Effervescent Social Environment

The Husbear and several other people I know in real life—ahem, you know who you are—should watch this for a better understanding of me and one reason as to why Doctor Who has had such an impact on me.

Okay, really, everyone should watch this. It’s only 5.5 minutes of your life.

Thank you to the PBS Idea Channel. I hope Romney doesn’t get the chance to cut your funding.

Until next time...

    1. I’m glad to hear that!

And there’s one of two places you could start:

If you love old British things, I would suggest the very first episode from 1963. You can find a list of all the episodes here. You’ll need the list to order the DVDs from Netflix if you want to watch them in order. Or, you I can send you a HDD that has all of them on it that have been released on DVD up to this point, pre-sorted by episode in order. Yes, I’m that much of a dork.

If you’re not a fan of old British science fiction, you could safely start with the series “restart” in 2005 which is available instantly on Neflix or via DVD. This is usually where I recommend most people start who don’t have much or any Doctor Who experience. Then if you love it, you can always go back and watch from the 1963 beginning.

  1. I too found this helpful. “Dr. Who” sounds a lot like “opera” viz. where the hell do you start? and it probably is ‘too late’ to join – had to have been there from the beginning or too bad. I too don’t know where to begin. I sense I would love it though.
BTW – bow ties are cool.

It took me about a year to watch all of them, watching a few 22 minute episodes a night.

  2. I’ve been a Doctor watcher on and off over the decades (during the times I had a TV), first starting back in the early 70’s. My dad and I would watch together when I was about 10. Lurve.

  3. I’ll confront my shame and admit I have never seen Dr. Who. I know of the program but have never seen it. That being the case, almost everything in the video was new info to me; 5.5 minutes well spent

  4. I guess after watching an episode and a half I’m not really convinced as to why this is such a big thing. BUT, I can appreciate your enthusiasm after watching that nerd talk really, really fast about it. And before last night I was willing to give it another chance. But that was before your mash-up of the Dr. Who theme song and The Muppets theme song…which you sang…all the time…

    1. I want to hear more about Erik singing The Muppets theme song. Do we have video? PLEEEEEEEEASE tell me you have video. As for the fast-talking nerd, I actually think he’s kinda cute. ;^)
