Fellow tattoo artists - How do you handle or deal with people that walk in your door to 'price shop' for a tattoo?

Not a tattoo artist, from a customer service and marketing perspective, I would approach the customer from two perspectives, the customer is checking to see if they can afford what they want to have done, and I would impress on them, why my shop was going to deliver the best art, quality and customer experience. If they feel welcomed and impressed that you are the best, they will wait until they can afford you, rather then have someone cheaper do a lesser quality job.

  2. I’m still trying to understand why a tattoo artist would think it acceptable to not show for an appointment he made his customer wait 5 months for, with no notice or offer to reschedule. Just letting his employee have to explain he is not there and mumble applologies. (for readers, I am not talking about Erik or anyone in his shop)

  3. If the patron wants to bargain shop why should a tattoo artist be offended? If that person is going to get the cheapest price and a crummy tattoo then he/she gets what they bargain for..
