Random Bits

The Husbear has been in bed almost all day today, with the exception of getting up a few times to throw up out of either the top end or his bottom end. I think he’s got the flu.

In the old days, we had a bell that we could put near the bed and ring when we needed something. Today, we have text messaging.

Aren’t moonbeams technically sunbeams? After all, it’s just reflected sunlight since the moon itself isn’t doesn’t emit light.

What did I do before I had AirPlay? Especially since the receiver we has is AirPlay compatible? I can stream music and movies from my computer or my iPhone or my iPad directly to the receiver.

Our buddy Dwayne moved into his new home here in Northwest Arkansas last night. We are glad he’s now living here in the area, and we’re glad he’s living close to us.

I’m woefully behind on reading blogs. Well, some blogs. I’m using the shotgun approach to reading, and it’s not seeming to do me very well.

I should just change my voicemail greeting to “Please hang up and text me.” I hate talking on the phone.

My wounds from the glass shattering are healing nicely. As is the spider bite on my butt.

When two men marry each other does anyone change their last name?

Sometimes there aren’t enough hours in a day. Actually there’s enough hours, I just need to better manage my time.

Has anyone actually ever tried to herd cats?

Until next time...

  1. When Greg and I married we never considered changing our names. That seems to be a hetero tradition that cements the male’s dominance and “ownership” over the female. It’s hard to imagine a gay couple following that protocol. However, if both men were to change their names to a whole new name, that would be really cool. Here’s what our new last name would be… what do you think?… Greg & Cubby Cockslobber.

  2. Because moonbeams is vastly more romantic and poetic than “reflected sunlight since the moon itself isn’t doesn’t emit light,” as in “Isn’t the reflected sunlight lovely shimmering on the water?” or “He tenderly stroked my beard and pulled me in for a kiss under the reflected sunlight since the moon itself doesn’t emit light.” That sort of thing.

I’ve always said that when gays marry they make the “rules” for themselves and are not bound by heterosexual customs. Most of our friends keep their own names as Fritz and I have done. The husband of a very dear blogger friend of mine changed his last name as his family had treated him so badly he didn’t want their name any more. Another couple of blogger friends joined their last names with a hyphen. It’s all good, it’s whatever they felt comfortable with.

Can’t believe I’m saying this, but I hope the Husbear “only” has the flu instead of this really nasty stomach virus that’s going around.

  3. I have herded cats, but never more than three at a time, and for the most part I herd them down the hallway. So it isn’t as difficult as it could be. Neither is it as easy as it might be.

  4. herding cats is rawther tiresome and not recommended. I have never considered if gay marriages ever end up changing their names, although Someone occasionally called me the “2nd Mrs. Someone”.
