Room 524

16 years ago today, Michael Hutchence (the lead singer of the band INXS) was found dead in a hotel room.

INXS was/is probably one of two favorite bands of mine of all time up to this point in my life. I won’t say his death had a big impact on me, aside from the fact that there was to be no more music from him, either with INXS or his solo works. I’m not sure if that sounded sad or not, but take it for what it is. I’m not the most emotional guy on the planet.

The song/video below is probably one of my favorite songs of all time, and seems somewhat fitting as a memorial. (It’s also on my “Play these songs in memory of me” list upon my demise.)

“The Stairs”, from the 1990 album X:

If you’re not familiar with INXS, or just want a trip down memory lane, check out many of INXS’ videos on their YouTube page. And check out some of Michael’s solo and side project works as well.

Apparently, today is also the 50th anniversary of the assassination of JFK. But that happened long before I existed.

Until next time...
Erik
