You’re Lookin’ At Country

Tonight I took the Husbear down to Fayetteville to see the 76 year old Loretta Lynn perform in concert.

It was... okay. Meaning, it wasn't a horrible experience.

Loretta was apparently under the weather with some sort of illness but still chose to perform anyway. Lucky (for us?) one of her daughters was there to fill in the bits where she couldn't sing. It was slightly distracting, but it worked. And the audience didn't seem to care. Actually, everyone seemed... empathetic to her not feeling well.

But I know the Husbear enjoyed the concert. Which is what was important.

It's hard to imagine that she's been singing and performing for over 50 years. I guess I hope I'm still able to do what I love when I've been doing it for 50 years.

Until next time...

We’ll Make Great Pets!

I tend to wonder what has caused humanity to go COLLECTIVELY FUCKING STUPID these days. In the last few years, I've firmly come to believe the axiom: "The sum of the intelligence on the planet is a constant; the population is growing."

I choose not to expound on what made me write that previous paragraph. Just know that I did.

That said, I leave you with this lovely little ditty from 1993:

(YouTube link if you do not see the above embedded video.)

Children are innocent;
A teenager's fucked up in the head;
Adults are even more fucked up;
And elderlies are like children.

Will there be another race to come along and take over for us?
Maybe martians could do better than we've done?

We'll make great pets!

My friend says we're like the dinosaurs.
Only we are doing ourselves in much faster than they ever did.

We'll make great pets!

Until next time...

Dear Prudence

I haven't been able to get this song out of my noggin today. I actually remember it playing in a most bizarre dream I had last night. The dream involved tornadoes. I've been having a lot of dreams with tornadoes as of late. I'm not sure what that's about.

Anyway. Back to the song.

While I now know this song was originally written by the Beatles, I will forever think of this song as a Siouxsie and the Banshees song. Because her/their version is so much better.

And how did I forget that Robert Smith of The Cure was at one time a member of the band?

Cup of Brown Joy

I present Professor Elemental's "Cup of Brown Joy". An English chap singing/rapping about tea.

Trust me, it's worth it. Totally.

(YouTube link)

I'm totally intrigued.

Hat tip to Gavin!

Until next time...
