Our last “local” meal with Dwayne. After four years here, he’s moving to STL this weekend for the next chapter in his book. We’ll miss the big lug!

I picked the theme for this month: 80’s songs that make you cringe. And Blobby‘s correct: I did select the theme and emailed it to him while inebriated gambrinous on the streets of New Orleans. It’s what popped into my head first, so I ran with it. Unlike other things I’d like to have been popping in my head while in NOLA.
And Blobby seems to be picking songs I like. Hmm…
I cringe every time I hear this song, and have as far back as I can remember. Even back in my Boy Scout days when the hell was played out of this song at every jamboree and event it seemed.
I don’t know if it’s because I’ve always felt like an outsider looking in: growing up gay in things that were, well, hyper straight. Or, because I’ve never understood the blind patriotism and religious devotion that I see in people around me.
All I know is this song makes me cringe a million ways. And I cringe even more so since after this election….
I give you Lee Greenwood’s 1984 “God Bless the USA”
Until next time...

I’m not sure what year… maybe 1977 or so. I still have the dimple. It’s just buried under the beard. (It sucks not having any of my childhood photos. This was pulled out of a yearbook.)

My apologies to anyone who came here looking for me over the last few days and received a “server not found” message.
There was an issues with the DNS entries for my site name that my webhost was finally able to get corrected for me.
I’m back now! Not that I really do anything anymore. But at least I’ll get my email now.
Until next time...

Beard problems. Apparently this happens to me frequently. This incident was on January 1. Maybe I should keep a record.
