AVP-R. [Or, how not to behave in a theater!]

My hubby and I went to see “Alien vs. Predator: Requiem” yesterday on Xmas Day. It was a dark movie that you did not want to be a human in or get attached to any of them on the screen. But that is not the point of this entry.

Maybe I’m just “getting old” these days, but I no longer enjoy going to the movie theater. It seems that people have no concept of “courtesy” these days. From the asshole behind me who kept bumping my seat every time he shifted, the two people talking loudly to others during the movie and the three idiots texting during the movie—they all seem to have no concept of what it means to be courteous.

I don’t think anyone would say “hostility” is a trait I show often, but something about being in a movie theater these days makes me just want to kick the shit out of people who are rude. I get so “agitated” that by the end of the movie I have to actually force myself to calm down. That’s not healthy! I would rather miss all the fanfare and office talk by waiting for the DVD to come out and watch it at home with no one around to be rude.

I wish the aliens would have attacked these people instead of the people on the movie screen.

Until next time...
Erik

  1. I totally agree and I think movie theaters will become a thing of the past in another 20 yrs or so. You can almost recreate the movie experience at home with large plasmas and better surround sound than what the theater offers. And you can always politely ask the asshole making noise to shut the fuck up or leave your house.

Like the new site will put you in my blog roll. Would love to see an online gallery of your tattoo art!

  2. I am so not allowed to go to the movies anymore ever since I stood up and yelled at the people talking in the theater when Gandolf died in Lord of the Rings. Did they stop? No. My man was quite upset with me. Thank God for Netflix and home theater systems.

  3. Eiain and I have found more and more we wait for the DVD to come out rather than go to the cinema. The last time we went I actually had to hold Eiain of a few rowdy teenagers as he was gona smack them for constantly carrying on through the movie. We have traveled to many different towns but there always seems to be that element of people who are annoying when trying to watch a movie. We shouldnt let it get too us too much but we do. People have less and less manners these days. My god we must be getting old lol

  4. @Romach:
I shudder to think we’re getting older. I think people just have no sensibility these days. At least I hope that’s what it is. Because if it’s the former, I am going to be a crotchety old man.
