30 Day Challenge, Day 21 — A recipe

My twenty-first entry in this “30 Day Challenge” is a recipe.

A recipe for what? Disaster?

Actually, “disaster” is an apt description of about how the things I attempt to cook turn out.

So, I leave you with a beverage recipe. Those are fairly hard to screw up. (But I can. And have.)

Rock Star Root Beer

2 oz. Three Olives Root Beer Vodka
2 oz. Three Olives Vanilla Vodka
8 oz. Ginger Ale

Mix in a glass filled with ice.

Until next time...

30 Day Challenge, Day 20 — A hobby of yours

(I was traveling the last 3 days, so I’m a few days behind in this challenge. I’ll go back and do those then post them. Expect them to be out of order. Just like me!)

But the twentieth entry in this “30 Day Challenge” is a hobby of mine.

Aside from electronic gadgets, I don’t know that I have any hobbies at the moment.

I used to put models together. The plastic kind. That come in boxes. That require assembly.

I’m fairly detail-oriented. I’d always go above and beyond to make it look more “real”. And I’d usually modify it by adding things like fiber optic lighting or other such strangeness.

I used to find it relaxing. “Relaxing” is probably not the right word. I found it a way to escape but remain focused at the same time. Something I tend to have to do.

But it’s probably been about a decade since I last worked on a model. It seems that “life” has gotten in the way. I’ve always got something I’m working on these days: it was either two jobs, paperwork for the businesses, construction around the house, etc.

Maybe it’s time I set aside a little time to start doing that again.

Until next time...
Erik

30 Day Challenge, Day 19 — A talent of yours

My nineteenth entry in this “30 Day Challenge” is a talent of mine.

I always find talent to be relative to those I’m around at that moment.

Things I can do that others might say is talented if it’s not something they do:

  • Build a computer;
  • Install multiple computer operating systems;
  • “Play” in the Windows Registry like no bodies business;
  • Draw/Paint/Artsy Stuff;
  • Tattoo;
  • Building things/general construction.

I can also do that thing with my tongue :

Until next time...

30 Day Challenge, Day 18 — Whatever tickles your fancy

My eighteenth entry in this “30 Day Challenge” is another “whatever tickles my fancy” post.

Have you ever wondered how your computer’s Internet browser works? Not the nitty-gritty of the software code itself, but how it knows where to go when you type “http://erikrubright.com” in the address bar? Here’s a little cartoon that shows you that. You’ll definitely need to click to see it full size.

Until next time...

30 Day Challenge, Day 17 — An art piece (painting, drawing, sculpture, etc.)

My seventeenth entry in this “30 Day Challenge” is an art piece (painting, drawing, sculpture, etc.).

I’m assuming this is about one I like that someone else has created, and not one I’ve created. Because that would be kinda egotistical, wouldn’t it?

I’ve always had a fascination with Katsushika Hokusai’s 1832 woodblock print “The Great Wave off Kanagawa” from his “36 Views of Mount Fuji” series.

I’m fairly certain I could not tell you why I like it. But I do. And that’s what matters.

Until next time...
Erik
