30 Day Challenge, Day 09 — A photo you took

My ninth entry in this “30 Day Challenge” is a photo that I took.

Since I take lots of pictures, I picked three that I took in the last 5 months that I thought were mentally interesting.

This one was taken with my iPhone at a friend’s house. He was hosting a birthday party for his partner. As this was the first time visiting his house, he was giving me a tour. This is what I saw on his back deck. I thought it was interesting.

This is m (milli), the Husbear’s kitteh. She likes to look out the window. I saw her sitting there and wondered what she was thinking.

Looking Out.

We had a snow on Christmas Day. There is an old bench that was on the property when we bought the house. I move it to different spots throughout the year. I applied a filter to this image to get this look.

Another Earthquake.

We had a magnitude 2.6 earthquake hit today.

Thursday, May 20, 2010 at 07:01:52 PM at epicenter
Magnitude 2.6, 3.1 miles deep
Lat: 36.295 Long: -94.251
Event ID: us2010wnab

I was at the tattoo studio and there was two loud bangs which reverberated through the building. I thought someone had wrecked their vehicle into the building. I went outside and looked, but nothing. Freaky.

This is the 2nd earthquake in the last month. Freakier.

Thursday, April 29, 2010 at 10:52:31 AM local time at epicenter
Magnitude 2.5
36.33N 94.31W
Event ID: us2010vrbm

Before that, there have been no earthquakes in this county in recorded history. Even more freaky.

I dug some digging at the USGS database and found the following other earthquakes near the area:

  • May 25, 1986, Twin Oaks, OK, Magnitude 2.2, Lat: 36.230 Long: -94.877
  • June 20, 1926, Evening Shade, AR, Magnitude 4.2 (Richter?), Lat: 35.600 Long: -94.900
  • July 8, 1925, Alpena, AR, Magnitude 3.9 (Richter?), Lat: 36.300 Long: -93.200

There have been others felt in the area, but as per information found in other sources, but those were the only ones recorded.

I guess something had to build all the gorgeous mountains around us here in Arkansas. Maybe it’s back to add on more?

Until next time...

Exposure?

So, the Husbear and I have turned up in an advertisement for an event we’re not part of. We’ve had two separate sets of friends tell us about it.

This ad is on display at thebearmall.com:

Which is a link to an event called Beachcomber Bear. Where we also show up in a few pictures. The pictures were taken at another event called Tidal Wave (which sadly we won’t be attending for the first time this year). As near as I can tell, the events are not related as far as organizers go.

I’m not sure how I feel about that.

I have no problem with my face being out there, because Big Bertha only knows that I’ve uploaded enough pictures of myself to the Internet. And I’d probably go to the event if it was something I could afford to do, but…

It’s just weird.

Until next time...

30 Day Challenge, Day 07 — A photo that makes you happy

My seventh entry in this “30 Day Challenge” is a photo that makes me happy.

The following photo is almost 8 years old, but it still makes me smile every time I see it.

20020812-DSC00179-House - Robert in kitchen

It’s of the Husbear showing off his kitchen in our new-to-us house that we just had our bid accepted on.

While it’s not the clearest or best photo ever taken, it does capture a special moment that I hope I never forget.

Until next time...
Erik
