I Don’t Feel Like Dancing… Kind of.

My mind is a blank. It was a long week at the tattoo studio. I’m home. The Husbear is out at the club. So I’m having a rare quiet “me” time.

With vodka. Which isn’t rare.

And the Internet. Also not rare.

I stumbled about this cover of the Scissor Sisters’ “I Don’t Feel Like Dancing” by Hayseed Dixie on YouTube just a bit ago, and I’ve been LOLing ever since.

The “ba-oom papa oom papa oom papa mow mow” from “Elvira” really made me giggle.

In case you don’t know what it sounds like, here’s the original song by the Scissor Sisters:

And yes, I’m Team Babydaddy.

Une Very Stylish Fille

One day sometime last decade when I was home on a sick day I was laying on the couch listening to the television. Yes, listening. It’s what I do. It was on, but more for background noise as I drifted in and out of consciousness. I think it was on Canada’s MuchMusic video station. Like MTV, but they actually play videos.

This song came on. I was instantly fascinated.

I couldn’t even really tell you why I like this song. But I do. The tempo. The weird catwalk feel. The recycled “Breakfast at Tiffany’s” lyrics (a movie that I’ve never actually seen). It’s all mesmerizing.

That said, I present you Dimitri From Paris’ “Une Very Stylish Fille”:

Let’s Just Get Naked

My blogging skills seem to have disappeared this month. I haven’t felt very sociable, and as a result haven’t felt like sharing anything either. Aside maybe from my drunk tweets on Mondays, but alcohol has that affect on me.

That said, I give you another installment of “Random Music I Love… and why I love it.”

Most of you might remember Joan Osborne because of “One of Us“. That song actually caused me to pick up her album Relish back in 1995. There are so many incredible songs on that album. I love her voice. And I love the bluesy-rocky feel of her music.

One of my favorites is the song “Let’s Just Get Naked”.

(Lyrics here.)

Maybe we should all get naked.

Just for a laugh.

Until next time...

Random Music I Love… and Why I Love It

I’m not ashamed to admit it: I’m a Parrothead!

I know most people think of Jimmy Buffett as just being just the drunk fraternity/beach music guy since the only songs that ever get played are the likes of “Margaritaville” and maybe “Cheeseburger in Paradise”, but he actually has a wide variety of musical styles.

Thanks to one person, I started listening to Jimmy Buffett in high school. And I fell in love immediately. I reallly have no logical explanation as to why, but I did.

I’ve only been able to see Jimmy Buffett in concert once, but it’s definitely an event one never forgets. Ever. I’ve been trying to drag the Husbear to see him in concert, but the Husbear just doesn’t seem to be… interested.

Being a Parrothead, there’s a plethora of songs I love. But for this post I’m narrowing this down to one of my favorites from the last five years.

Which would be: Jimmy’s cover of “Wheel Inside the Wheel” from his 2006 album “Take The Weather With You”. This song was actually written by Mary Gauthier for her 2004 album called “Mercy Now”.

Give it a listen. It’s probably not what you expect.

These lines make me giggle:

While the French Quarter Queens in their high-heeled drag disguise
Sing “Over the Rainbow” ’til Judy Garland quivers and sighs

Until next time...

Random Music I Love

First up, I hope y’all had an awesome Xma$! Thank you for the holiday wishes. I’ve been stupid busy and haven’t even had time to respond to the emails I received. I’m a bad blog host like that.

Now on to the post….

I’m probably going to be sent to some gay Hell for this one. But I’ve always been a fan of punk. And usually covers. Make that a punk cover and I could just pee myself!

I have to say that I have never seen nor heard the original musical or whatever this song comes from. Take away my gay card, I know.

I love when this song bubbles up on shuffle. The gays around me pretty much go bat-shit crazy and hurl expletives at me for it. And I’m okay with that. I reach over to the volume and turn it up that much louder to drown them out.

This is not the band’s video but some fan’s work. Which really makes it that much funnier to me because that is pretty much what I picture in my head when I hear this song.

Without further ado, I present Me First and the Gimme Gimmes’ cover of “Cabaret”:

Until next time...
