Previously…

I have this method of ranking music in my library, which currently consists of 34,968 songs: By default, all new songs in my library get ⭐️⭐️⭐️. As I listen to them, I sort them as follows: ⭐️ means it’s “rubbish” and I’ll probably delete it from the library, ⭐️⭐️ means it’s just “meh” but I’ll probably keep it, ⭐️⭐️⭐️ means it’s okay and we will probably talk over it, ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ means I really like and may potentially sing at random, ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ means everyone better shut the fuck up because my song is on! You know the kind of songs I’m talking about. We all have them.

These are mine, one post at a time.

I’m starting my approach to this with songs I’ve given ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ to in iTunes. There’s only 90 of them at the moment. I’ll probably sneak in an occasional ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ as well.

We’re still on with the duets.

One of those bands that got stuck in my brain when I was in high school was what later became the group known as The KLF. Most people either recognize that name from either the 1990 songs “What Time is Love?”, “3 a.m. Eternal”, or possibly the 1988 “Doctorin’ the Tardis” (done as The Timelords). A LOT of song samples were used on their earlier works that landed them in a lot of trouble with record artists and labels. But they were well done. In my brain at least.

I still have no idea how they managed to talk Tammy Wynette, the “First Lady of Country Music”, into doing this song, but they did. And it works. In my brain at least.

I present The KLF’s 1991 “Justified and Ancient (Stand By The JAMs)” featuring Tammy Wynette:

12 of 12, August 2015 Edition

My 44th “12 of 12!” I was home sick today. So, you’re getting a whole lot of fauna pictures apparently. I’m not sure what’s going on with me, other than some tummy troubles.

The 12 of 12 Challenge was created by Chad Darnell and picked up from a number of random bloggers who then linked back to him and vice versa. Chad stopped doing the 12 of 12 links in December of 2011, but passed the torch to someone else who sadly hasn’t been keeping up with it. So as always, I’m giving my shout-out to Blobby of Blobby’s Blog as he is the one who inspired me to do it. And still does.

All pictures were taken with my iPhone 6.

It’s been an event-filled week that I should probably blog about, but instead, I’ll take the time to get some soothing tunes out there.

Duets are the August theme. I “let” Blobby pick this month since he offered me the choice last.

And for my first, I’m going with Brian Setzer and Gwen Stefani. Two guilty pleasures all wrapped up in one!

I’ve always been a big fan of Brian Setzer, both with the rockabilly Stray Cats and later with the swing-sounding The Brian Setzer Orchestra. I suppose even some of his solo rock stuff is pretty good too.

And Gwen Stefani. Love! I’m probably one of a few people on the planet who do, but hey, I do. Since the early days of No Doubt (and even the later stuff that’s a little droll), and even some of her solo work, I do love me some Gwen.

And put them both together? Helloooooo!!!!!!!!

I present The Brian Setzer Orchestra performing “You’re the Boss” featuring Gwen Stefani.

Until next time...
