Previously…

In an effort to attempt to blog a little more, I’m somewhat “borrowing” a schtick from Blobby at Blobby’s Blog. I guess this makes the second thing I’ve borrowed from him actually. Maybe one day I’ll come up with something of my own.

I have this method of ranking music in my library, which currently consists of 34,968 songs: By default, all new songs in my library get ⭐️⭐️⭐️. As I listen to them, I sort them as follows: ⭐️ means it’s “rubbish” (as Dr. Spo would say) and I’ll probably delete it from the library, ⭐️⭐️ means it’s just “meh” but I’ll probably keep it, ⭐️⭐️⭐️ means it’s okay and we will probably talk over it, ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ means I really like and may potentially sing at random, ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ means everyone better shut the fuck up because my song is on! You know the kind of songs I’m talking about. We all have them.

These are mine, one post at a time.

I’m starting my approach to this with songs I’ve given ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ to in iTunes. There’s only 90 of them at the moment. I’ll probably sneak in an occasional ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ as well.

I don’t know if I’ve ever posted anything that wouldn’t be early Alternative Pop or Alternative Rock on here. But I really do like a wide variety of music. And living in Arkansas, one would expect one to like Country. Some of which I do. I’d say more Country Rock or Rockabilly than anything, but my tastes vary.

I’ve been a fan of Big & Rich since that hit they had in 2004. You know, the one about a horse and a cowboy. You know it was catchy. And overplayed. Way overplayed.

There were actually a lot of good songs on that same album, many of which didn’t get airplay. Which is okay, that means I got to enjoy them without the radio running them into the ground.

For whatever reason though, this is my favorite song from that album. Catchy shared bass and guitar riff, combined sing-song and melodic vocals, positive lyrics, and who doesn’t like a little “woo hoo!”?

I present Big & Rich’s “Love Train”, from their 2004 album Horse of a Different Color:

Woo hoo!

Until next time...
Erik

  1. Rich – for being such a big republican, looks like a bigger homo. But he can’t be, because well, they don’t want him.
