Go West

The Husbear and I will be heading westward the last week of October.

Our oldest daughter is getting married on November 1 and will be doing so in Las Vegas. By Elvis. Even though there’s an Elvis closer in Memphis. Such is the way of things.

We were originally going to fly to Vegas on ye ol’ Allegiant Air. But as we’re prone to do we have instead decided to drive. Roughly 3,000 miles over 10 days or so. So we can see the countryside. By now, you should know it’s what we do. We’ll only be spending one or two days in Vegas at most. The remainder of the time we will be driving and sightseeing.

A rough idea of the path we’ll be taking.

The Husbear and I have never been out west together, nor been out that way as adults. So there’s a lot we’d like to see. We haven’t planned an exact route and time-frame as of yet, but I know I’d definitely love to swoop down (after making a left turn at Albuquerque!) to Tuscon and Phoenix on the way to Vegas, then through Denver on the way back.

So… I would like to meet up with some of my blogger buddies along the way. Especially since it seems most of you live out that way for some odd reason. This is me putting a bug in your ear!

Until next time...
Erik

  1. please come to phoenix ! They have nice things here like fun restaurants, eating out of doors in October, and blogger buddies who want to entertain and house you ! (reasonable rates).

  2. If you’re going to Tucson, you should hit the city on your way back and go to the All Soul’s Procession on November 4. What a fantastic experience. http://www.allsoulsprocession.org/ Homer should have all the details.

BTW – WIth wedding and all, it would still be lovely to meet you in person if at least for a quick hello, nice to meet you. If you and the the Husbear are going to be anywhere near downtown Las Vegas, I work in the resort corridor on Fremont Street Experience – a must-see itself.

Don’t miss Sky City and Akoma Indian Reservation in New Mexico. It is so beautiful. There is also Meteor Crater in Winslow, AZ http://www.meteorcrater.com/

    1. Thank you for all the information.

We’ll have to consider flipping our route around so we can see the procession. I’m sure the Husbear would like it.

And I’ll definitely let you know as we get our plans finalized as we’d love meeting you as well!

  3. Oh yeah, if you must go through Kansas (and for the life of me, I don’t know why you would even want to go through that hateful state) don’t miss the Oz Museum in Wamego. F*** I should be a travel planner 🙂

The Mister and I travel a lot from our home in the west to our home in Michigan. We both prefer to drive as air travel is a pain.

    1. It’s not that we want to go through Kansas, but sadly it sits between here and Colorado. And is one long-ass flat and boring state.

Air travel is a pain. I hate it. For the amount of frustration I seem to go through with airports, driving definitely is a better route for me.

  4. It’s a beautiful drive out that way and driving really is the only way to fly! That’s one of our favorite parts of the country. Have fun!
