8½”

Normally I’m fine with getting 8½”. I mean, who isn’t? 😉

But this is crazy:

Sometimes 8½" is just to much...
Sometimes 8½” is just to much…

It started yesterday mid-morning. And it just now stopped around 1pm.

I had to venture into Bentonville to make sure both the studio and the salon heat were on and the waterlines were all okay. It’s going to be 1°F tonight.

The roads apparently haven’t been touched by AHTD. No scraping. No sanding. No deicing.

Somewhere under there is Hwy 72. Somewhere.
Somewhere under there is Hwy 72. Somewhere.

There weren’t many people out, aside from a few people who were driving their SUVs and trucks. Way to fast for the conditions. Which probably explains why so many were in ditches. They deserved it.

Oh, and the mail carrier was out too.

Come rain or sleet or snow...
Come rain or sleet or snow…

The snow does make for some beautiful scenery though.

I'll not driving back up the hill until the under-ice melts.

And what’s worse: it’s still only autumn!

Update: On the news tonight, Pea Ridge was reported as having the most precipitation received for the area. At 12″!

Until next time...

And so it begins…

It was in the sixties for the last few days, and then…

Seriously?
Seriously?

The weather services have been calling for it. Humans are being more stupid than normal. The store shelves have been emptied. Most businesses and schools in the area have closed already, many until Monday at the earliest.

It’s been lightly precipitating freezing rain and then sleeting in an alternating fashion since late last night. It’s sleeting now as I type this. I can see the few cars in the parking lot slowly developing an ice shell. The parking lot and the road in front of the studio have slowly changed color from asphalt black to sleet white. The drive home from the studio should be interesting.

While I don’t consider myself a “bear” in any respect, I’d definitely be all for finding a nice naturally warm cave somewhere to hibernate in for the next 4 months. That way I could skip the rest of the holiday season, and come out on the other end all skinny-like.

Until next time...
Erik

12 of 12, November 2013 edition

The 12 of 12 challenge was created by Chad Darnell and picked up from a number of random bloggers who then linked back to him and vice versa. Chad stopped doing the 12 of 12 links in December of 2011, but has now passed the torch on to Janet Hughes who hasn’t been keeping up with it. So as always, I’m giving my shout-out to Blobby of Blobby’s Blog as he is the one who inspired me to do it.

My twenty-third “12 of 12”. Today’s 12 is a Tuesday. My Monday.

All pictures were taken with my iPhone 4S.

9:41 AM: I don't know if this counts as a picture, but it's what I see when I look at my phone. AND I really don't want to get out of bed.

11:26 AM: That's an odd combination, I know. But I have a need for both items. Just not at the same time.

BONUS: 11:22 PM: Of course, it wouldn't be a "12 of 12" without a picture of one of the kittehs.
