I’m almost afraid to open it. Almost.

It’s been a home sick on the couch between bathroom visits kind of day. *meh*

Blobby threw a few ideas at me for October. Of them, I was intrigued by this one: “original versions of songs that were taken and made famous by other people.” But I needed a little more definition, as it’s a fine line in my brain between “covers” and “songs made famous by others”. (I’m easily confused like that!) So Blobby clarified it as “songs that were originals that weren’t well known (or known at all). It’s almost like covers Opposite Day.” And our theme was born: “Covers Opposite Day”!
That could be a wee bit challenging. Or will it? That means I’ll need to flex my music history muscle. Which is smaller than most of my other muscles.
I suppose we’ll start with an obvious one. At least for me.
Most people know Cyndi Lauper’s 1983 hit “Girls Just Want to Have Fun”. If memory servers, it’s the song that brought her to public attention, and rightfully so.
But did you know that it was originally recorded and preformed by Robert Hazard in 1979?
Roger’s original is definitely a little more punk, and a lot more rocking.
And now you know. Because…

I guess it’s been a bit since I talked about the “barn” we’re building.
Over the next two weekends after the roof shingles were installed, I got the remaining sheathing installed on the barn:
And then came the air and water barrier installed over the next two weekends:
The next few weeks after that were involved with our annual pilgrimage to Florida and New Orleans.
Mid-September I build myself a workbench and started getting my tools moved from all the places I had them stored and started organizing.
We picked up the first door and installed it the next weekend.
And then this past weekend we picked up the French doors. That was a wee bit interesting getting it home. But in about 2 hours we got those installed. We also ordered the concrete fiber siding, which Lowe’s was supposed to deliver Monday morning.
Well, Monday morning came and went. And no delivery. They finally dropped off the siding around 3 PM.
I’ll get to starting installing that this coming weekend.
Until next time...
