When I was a wee lad, I was notorious for re-writing songs. I totally thank Weird Al for that. (I still have his first four albums… on vinyl!) I still remember the first time I heard his parody of Toni Basil’s “Hey Mickey” called “Ricky”. And thus began my obsession with making up my own lyrics to popular songs. And I love every sing polka medley he ever did. Because I’m weird like that.
I’m guessing most of you have probably seen this video since it was released last week, but I keep giggling when I think about it. Because I love Weird Al. And that’s what he does. After I hear one of his parodies, I no longer ever hear the original song in my head.
I love the hat-tip to Madonna at the 1:20-ish and the 1:50-ish marks.
And that is how I expect drag queens to dress.
Until next time...
Love it. Love it. Loooove it!
nice one… 🙂
Gaga has ripped off just about everyone that has come before her.
Love this video!
OutStanding!!!!!!!!!!!!! LMAO
Just saw it this morning by coincidence. I’m trying to figure out if that was really Al’s body or if they put his face on another person’s body. I saw no hint of a penis, and that’s unfortunate for Al in every respect.
Al’s face is CGI’d in over an actresses.
Love Weird Al. I’m still re-writing songs that get stuck in my head. I guess it was in the 10th grade that I had an entire song figured out to Debbie Gibson’s “Electric Youth” called “Electric Chair” in honor of Ted Bundy and the day he was executed. I thought I was so cool. Such a dork!
And just think… had you pursued it, you could have been Weird Al II!
Loved it 🙂 Looks like Al’s face CGI-ishly superimposed on a woman’s body, a la Black Swann. Only more fun.
I used to be a member of his fan club, “The Close Personal Friends of Al”. His parodies are fantastic, and his original stuff’s not so bad, either.
There’s not much that he’s done that I didn’t love. I’m a big fan of the polkas though.
The digital head paste was a little… odd… but, otherwise, very entertaining.
Erik, drag queens are never that much fun. I think you have your hopes up too high.
I have high expectations.
Haha! I’m constantly doing this with songs, rechanging the lyrics to suit the situation. It drives my friends and co-workers crazy, though some are impressed at my ability to adapt lyrics at the drop of a dime. I think it’s one of my trademarks.
It’s a great trademark to have!
“every day is Halloween … to me.” Love it.
